Why Register With Us
We are dedicated to the transparent and structured approach in supporting and nurturing the progression of the Chinese Red Dog.
A rare breed, the Chinese Red Dog is officially recognised by the Chinese Kennel Union (CKU), which is beneficial for those who live there. However, registering with the CKU from the UK is a very lengthy process.
Our sign up procedure will have your dog registered and their data and DNA stored and secured in no time at all. To complete your registration with us, it is mandatory for your dog to be DNA-profiled via blood sample.
Because our registry is exclusive to Chinese Red Dogs, we are able to offer services in our membership packages that reflect their specific needs in their early life, especially if they’re growing in a western country like the UK. Our services will better the breed as well as the owners understanding of the breed.
Our Aim
More than just a registry, we offer services that will aid the future of the breed as well as benefit the member.
We aim to build a database that will allow pet owners, stud owners, breeders, and dog sport-hopefuls alike to make informed decisions when purchasing a pup, breeding a pair, or putting a dog up for stud.
We offer three-tier membership packages – BRONZE, SILVER and GOLD. By registering in any of our premium packages, you will be able to see the lineage of your dog. There are a number of breeders in the UK and Europe and at present, and what they all have in common is a lack of hard copy evidence on the lineage and history of their breeding dogs. We are at the beginning of the story of the Chinese Red Dog in the west and because of that, it is imperative that we now document who is who; Sire, Dam, daughter, son, brother, sister.
The registry will give you information on the history of your pup/dog including, but not limited to:
- The Sire and the Dam
- Litter brothers and sisters
- A small brief on the dog itself and any titles or achievements acquired
- Health testing status
The health testing will be documented on fact and evidence. In partnership with veterinary laboratory LABOKLIN UK, extensive health tests and research will be conducted and documented as part of our commitment to transparency. If your dog has had its hip and elbow scored prior to being registered, and members wish to make their scores publicly visible, paper evidence will be required for the Chinese Red Dog Registry to be able to put it on file. Unscored X-rays can be put on file but will be stored as not scored. These rules also apply to any other more in-depth tests such as bloods and/or DNA screening, eye test, and heart screenings. Proof will also be required to support any results that are in need of being filed. Alternatively, you can register your dog as untested but this will reflect on your file.
We will continuously be doing research including trials with our members selected at random as well as challenge winners from our occasional friendly competitions within our community. We will also be carrying out screening with dogs that are native in China to see if that is relative to the Chinese Red Dog breed.
At the Chinese Red Dog Registry, we believe it’s important that we begin officially monitoring the breeds’ progression. With more dogs likely to be coming from China in the future, it’s important that we separate the blood lines and types now to avoid unwanted inbreeding between related dogs. Ultimately, we aim to build and document a healthy population of Chinese Red Dogs.
